The aim of the International Guesthouse Rostock (IBZ) is to enable and promote scientific and cultural exchange among the members of the university and other regional research institutions as well as the inhabitants of the city of Rostock. The IBZ thereby supports the further integration of Rostock into the international research community. Our guesthouse is therefore more than a mere place of residence. For a temporary stay from 3 months to 2 years, the IBZ offers its guests fully furnished apartments and extensive assistance for the scientists and their families.

Several common areas are available for meetings, discussions, professional talks and family celebrations and parties. The seminar room serves as a platform for scientific exchange via presentations, lectures and workshops and also provides space for personal and cultural encounters, e.g. through our regular art exhibitions, concerts, house meetings, seasonal festivals, family parties or cultural events. The IBZ team pursues its socio-cultural mission with joy and commitment. Our guests are welcome to excursions, barbecues and various community activities, thus promoting networking and communication among the residents.
